Diplomasi Merah Putih Tempoe Doeloe (President Soekarno)


President Sukarno Arrives in Capital of Newly Created Republic of Indonesia. President Sukarno declares that Indonesia, now free, will live in friendship with the world, as he addresses his people for the first time from his new headquarters, the Palace in Koningsplein, at Jakarta (Indonesian name for Batavia, now official name of capital). Formal transfer of sovereignty from the Netherlands to the United States of Indonesia took place in Jakarta yesterday.

UN General Assembly Continues General Debate
The General Assembly, which opened its fifteenth regular session earlier this week, continued general debate today. An unprecedented number of high officials are attending this session which has before it an 87-item provisional agenda, the longest in its history.

Addressing this afternoon's plenary meeting is President Sukarno, of Indonesia.

President of Indonesia Visits United Nations
Dr. Sukarno, President of the Republic of Indonesia, who is at present traveling through the United States, paid an official visit to United Nations Headquarters, in New York. This picture was taken in the Security Council chamber during the President's tour of the UN buildings.
